Ryan and Elizabeth’s client and his co-defendant were charged with felony sale and possession of a synthetic drug called XLR-11. Despite the law claiming that XLR-11 is a controlled substance, Ryan and Elizabeth sent the prosecutor a letter containing the argument of the future motion to dismiss reasoning that the chemical compound XLR-11 was not illegal in the state of Minnesota. Just before the contested hearing, the prosecutor dismissed the case for lack of sufficient evidence to move forward. After being charged with a felony, the client walked away with dismissed charges and no conviction.
