Ryan’s client was prohibited from possessing a firearm and ammunition. The case started when enforcement obtained a search warrant and executed the search warrant while Ryan’s client was at home with his significant other. The search resulted in a seizure of a rifle and ammunition, with Ryan’s client’s DNA being the major contributor on the firearm. The State’s plea offer was 5 years in prison. Ryan and his client rejected the offer, went to a jury trial and litigated the case. After closing arguments, the jury came back with a verdict in 45 minutes of NOT GUILTY on both charges. Instead of walking into prison in handcuffs, Ryan’s client walked out of the courtroom into the hands of his family.
