What Our Clients Say About Us
Elizabeth - I just wanted to thank you and Ryan for all your work on my case. You literally saved me from prison again. God forbid anyone I know gets into trouble but if they do you guys will be the one I tell them to contact. Once again I thank all of you so very much, even Shelly she is very polite and helpful.
Thank you, Elizabeth for your amazing tenacity in using your talent and knowledge in providing this information and giving hope to [client]!! We appreciate you and all you do for those who have no voice or limited voice in this criminal justice system!!
Dear Shelly - We did it! Thanks to you and Ryan for believing in me and putting together a rock solid response to the board. My future depended on it. Much gratitude.
Shelly, Elizabeth & Ryan – My long journey on probation is finally winding down. With that has come reflection on how hopeful, supportive and kind each and all of you have been – since DAY ONE! “Thank you” barely scratches the surface towards my gratitude and thanks. I know at times I was a panicky nag – yet you understood and helped. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hey Ryan – thanks for everything you’ve done for me. You are the best lawyer in the world. Merry X-mas.
Happy Holidays Mr. Garry, I just wanted to send you an update…I’ll keep you updated as I go! Hope you and your staff, and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years!
Dear Ryan & Staff- Once again, thank you for all you did for our family. Just a little update about Aaron in particular, but we are all a part of changes as we move forward (Aaron graduated from Summett Academy and actually started his job January 28th. He was chosen by his instructor to graduate early in order to take this construction job. Aaron and Jasmine are working things out and are doing well). You and your staff are such a big part of our success. Kay R.

I can't thank you both for everything you have done. My humble and heartfelt thanks to you both. I don't know what I would have done without you..... Elizabeth: Thank you so much for your hard work and detail, I am indebted to you. Ryan: wow what a presentation....... I thought I was watching a movie. Very genuine, articulate and powerful speech. God bless you both
Shelly - I just want to thank you for all your kindness and patience and I just cannot thank Ryan enough. I knew that I found the right people the minute I spoke to both of you.
Like I said to Ryan this morning, todays day we will celebrate as Family Birthday. Me, my wife and [client] like to THANK YOU from bottom of our hearts for everything you did for us. I’m so happy we surrounded ourselves with smart, knowledgeable and most of all kind group of people like Ryan and his team.
Hi Elizabeth, I want to thank you again for all you have done for [my son]. We were so fortunate to have you handle this for him, and are so appreciative of the diligence shown by you, throughout [our son]'s Expungement process. It is one more step in getting his life back on track. We have been so blessed to have you, Ryan, and Shelly, with [our son], from the beginning. We could not have had a better legal team, working for [our son], as well as taking care of his parents! It is hard to believe it has been [more than a year], since all this happened. Please know, all three of you are in my daily prayers, and will continue to be.
Ryan and Team - I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU for what you all did for me. I've had a very rough few years and what you did was truly a blessing from God. You guys are Angels and from the bottom of my heart I think you. . . . Your patience and generosity has been amazing and I can't say thank you enough! You are all appreciated.
Ryan, thank you for taking my case. I really appreciate all you have done for me and my family.
“I want you to know how much I deeply and sincerely appreciate the time, efforts, work and compassion you, Elizabeth and Shelly all did and had for me. Each one of you were key parts of the team that helped me. I guess I just want you to know that your talents and wisdom are a blessing, both objectively and in my personal situation. Likewise, Elizabeth’s skills and knowledge in support of you were apparent and likewise greatly appreciated. Both behind and ahead of you and Elizabeth goes Shelly, smoothing, shepherding, deflecting, and redirecting as needed—all while always putting forth a friendly, warm demeanor and upbeat spirit. I know they both really like you as their boss, and I also know you very much rely on, trust and like them as your staff. But as a former “boss” (first-level supervisor) myself, I know that sometimes we need to stop and make a special effort to recognize our employees for their diligent work. I’m not saying you don’t or haven’t, it’s just been on my heart to remind you. Ryan, I truly believe you three were a part of God’s grace (giving me something I don’t deserve), mercy (not giving me something I deserve) and discipline (giving me what I deserve) with my case. You are do wonderful, valuable work with skills He has given you. Please acknowledge and remember that. I will never be fully able to express my gratitude to any of you.” Thanks and blessings to you, Client
Dear Ryan, Thank you so much for continuing to help my daughter-in-law clear her record. We are happy beyond words that the past "error" was permanently sealed in court. Also thank you to Elizabeth for her work on this.
Dear Ryan - Once again I wanted to "Thank You!!" for everything you did to help my son and continue to do for him. I had complete faith in you that [Client] would NOT go to prison. When talking with you the couple of times at the courthouse, I could tell you sincerely cared about [Client] and what happened to him. . . . We all are eternally grateful to you and always will be. [Client] is an amazing person who made a mistake and you saw that! Thank you again!
Ryan, Shelly, and Elizabeth - Just wanted to tell you all THANK YOU!! Thank you for working on my case, thank you for your time and thank you for working with me! You three have always been kind and extremely helpful and from my son and me, we want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and an even Better New Year! You three ROCK! Thanks again for everything.
Ryan – I am (finally) sitting down to write a very overdue thank you. You may be thinking that “it’s my job” but you went above and beyond that in so many ways. I have not seen my brother yet, so I am not sure he understands the magnitude of everything (nor do I). But I do want to say how thankful I am for how you helped him (saved his butt, actually) and also how very much you were there for my sister.
Dear Ryan: How do we thank you? Mere words cannot convey how much we appreciate everything you have done for [our son] and for us! It goes without saying how highly we regard your legal skills. That was one of the reasons we recommended you to the [referral client] family. What we have appreciated even more than that is your confidence and caring. In every nightmare the past few years (some thrust upon us and others our son created), it always gave us peace of mind knowing you were in our corner. This has been a very dark road we have traveled, but you have been a beacon of hope! More times than I care to count we have been scared beyond belief. It is the kind of utter fear that takes your breath away, but then there would be a phone call or email from you and immediately that fear was alleviated, or at least reigned in. Thank you for everything.
"THANK YOU" does not convey my deep appreciate for all you have done and are trying to do for [my son]!! It goes without saying that we respect your legal skills. From the moment we hired you I felt relief knowing you were fearless and would defend [my son] aggressively. What I didn't know at the beginning, but certainly know now is how kind, caring and concerned you and your staff are for your clients AND families!! With deepest appreciation!
Ryan, my case all worked out so I have you to thank for that and much appreciated! And [client] is doing amazing in the drug court program hes actually getting into and taking it serious which is pretty cool to watch. So we want to thank you and Elizabeth for everything you guys rock!!!!:-D and hey if we need you in the future which your the go to guy but I hope I never have to contact you again and i mean that in a good way !! Take care
Words can't express the gratitude I feel for all you've done for me. Wanted to send you something extra special for your desk. Stay in touch! Very best regards.
Dear Elizabeth, My father just called me with the good news and I wanted to personally thank you and Ryan for everything you did for me. My family and I could not be happier with the outcome. You two worked so hard to make sure a shitty situation turned out right. Thank you so, so, so much again for everything you two have done for me. You're the best.
We really don't know how to find the right word to express our appreciation to what you have done to help my bother and family. Thanks again for providing a great support and being an excellent attorney as you are. Have a wonderful and peaceful night.
I will never forget what you have done! Words are powerful and eloquent and, thanks to them, we got a favorable verdict. Yet they cannot start to express my emotional state of mind in light of the positive outcome. You were simply marvelous. Thank you for helping me to gain my life and a step closer to reuniting with my daughter.
My daughter has told me of your legal skills to help our [grandson]. She also speaks very highly of you! Thank you for all you are doing for our [grandson].
In case you couldn’t sense my gratitude the other day, I just wanted to say thanks again. I will be in touch.
Mr. Garry saw me at 10:00 am Sunday morning. He listened to my legal problems, calmly, quietly and with undivided attention. After I finished, he thought for a very short time. He told me if I listen and following his suggestions, he may be able to get all the charges DISMISSED. I had several felony charges pending. I was looking at a huge fine(s) and possible jail time. Mr. Garry got all charges dismissed, dropped I never had to enter a courtroom. I didn’t have any DWI or DUI charges however, a friend called me during my legal problems, seems he’d received a DUI and needed a good attorney. Ryan Garry, I said. I understand from my friend Ryan may be able to have his charges dropped! I listened to his advice and took it. Ryan never pressured me, he would give me the best options (with consequences) and then let me decide with his recommendations. LISTEN TO WHAT RYAN GARRY SAYS, he’ll help you to a better legal conclusion! Thanks Ryan!!!!!! Merry Christmas, I know mine will be better thanks to you.
Just a quick note to let you know how much we appreciated your representation of our daughter. You were able to get the result we asked for. Your presence at our court appearance was reassuring for all of us. While we hope we will not need this type of representation again, we’ll know who to call.
I want to thank you for everything you helped me out with. After working with you Ryan, I sincerely believe you have a great future as a lawyer, litigator or whatever your field of choice may be. It is refreshing these days to see someone with a true passion for what he does. Thank you again.
Thank you for getting my case dismissed. You made this stressful experience bearable by your kindness and understanding. Your presence in the courtroom and knowledge of the law in my case was very impressive. Should I know anyone who has a legal problem in the future, without a doubt I will recommend you.
I was being investigated for a drug manufacturing operation, and turned to Ryan Garry for representation. He kept me informed, was available, and offered me reassurances based on his knowledge and judgment in dealing with the judicial system. To date, I have not been charged, and believe that my case was handled effectively. Thank you.
It was very important to me to have a clean criminal history. Ryan met with me and explained the process of how we would attack my criminal charges. The prosecutor in my case insisted on a guilty plea. Ryan filed a motion to dismiss my case based on an illegal seizure and on the day of trial, the prosecutor finally agreed to a resolution that avoided any type of criminal record. He demonstrated an empathy with what I was going through and fought aggressively to win my case. Thanks Ryan.
I just wanted to say thanks again for you and your staff’s help in getting the criminal side of my case dismissed. It was nice to finally get some good news.
I was charged with Driving While Under the Influence of alcohol and Ryan worked very hard to get my charges significantly reduced. Ryan also won my implied consent hearing, which immediately reinstated my license. I am very thankful for the effort and dedication that Ryan put into my case.
Cheers! A small token of my appreciation. Thanks again. To your health!
Please know that we were honored to finally meet him. I don’t believe we have ever ran across a more professional and caring person and attorney. We had some good laughs (after the fact) here at [Client’s business] and all my employees got to meet him too. What a gem he is and his personal demeanor really shines. He is what every mother hopes her son will turn out like. Please thank Ryan again for all his help and for the success of [Client]’s court case.
I have worked with Ryan who is an INCREDIBLE lawyer.
Ryan, I don’t think I can count the number of times I have wanted to sit down and jot a note off to you. And I don’t think I can count the number of times your name has come up with my wife, daughter and me. From the day we met right down to the final court hearing you really gave our daughter back her life. She has come miles through her AA group and therapist. She is a much stronger young woman who knows herself. Again, we thank you. You were always there for us. You were honest with us. And you went the distance and then some. I hope your life is going great and that your young family is healthy and happy. Just know that I will never forget you. You really are a special person and a gifted attorney. Please don’t respond. You have done enough. Thank you.
Thank you for representing [Client]. Do not doubt that the good things that you do are recognized by those around you! Thanks again.
Thanks for the help with my case – I knew nothing going in so it was essential to have someone on my side with a working understanding of the legal system. I truly appreciate the work you did for me and I am satisfied with the outcome we were able to win. I have no doubt things would have been for the worse without your involved personal and professional interest.
Ryan Garry saved my life, my children’s future, my whole family’s future, and I am forever grateful. I was being bullied by the government, and almost signed something admitting guilt to something I was not guilty of. Now i know why they call lawyers “counselor” ... he kept me calm, always got back to me, explained what was going on, and preserved the future of my family and saved my life. He also offered me help in other aspects of my life which went much beyond the scope of his representation. Words cannot do justice to how grateful I am. Thank you Ryan. I will always be in your debt.
I just can’t thank you enough for everything you have done for me. Thank you.
Words cannot begin to express how thankful I am for everything you have done for me. Because of you I will be able to watch my daughter grow up. That in itself is a bigger blessing than I could ever have hoped for. Not only did you represent me with professionalism, but you stood by my side and believed in me. You never made promises you couldn’t keep, but as my case progressed you gave me hope. Because of you that hope became a reality. I am so glad you represented me! I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you!
[My wife] and I want to thank you for what you did for our son – If he continues with his life style he should be in good shape in a few years. Ryan, please accept our sincerest thank you. You definitely worked you magic…. You Saved Our Son!
I just want to express my gratitude for not only handling this case, but also doing so in a timely manner! Now, I should be good to start my career in Colorado. Thanks again.
Thank you for everything you did. You SAVED MY LIFE and I will never, ever forget how hard you worked. I will never forget you.
Ryan, You really have a gift and are very good at what you do. You’re top-notch all the way! Keep up the great work. I will definitely refer others to you. After a very long 9 months, I am very pleased with the outcome of my case. Things could have been way worse. I was not familiar with the process and I’ll admit was very scared and I had my doubts. But you pulled through and for that I am forever grateful to you! What a blessing you are. Thanks so much. P.S. Tell Shelly thanks for everything as well!
Thank you for the superb job you did on [my son’s] case. We found you to be very knowledgeable, efficient and caring. It was a great help to us. Wishing you continued success.
As a local physician, it was imperative that my criminal record is clear. Ryan Garry was not only able to plead my DWI case down to a careless driving offense, but was also somehow able to get the implied consent dropped. I could not have hoped for a better result. Throughout this entire unfortunate ordeal, Ryan was extremely professional, thorough, and always available any time I needed him. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Ryan Garry.
Please accept this token of gratitude. I hope you enjoy a nice lunch with the family and walk to Excelsior Park or a quite dinner with your better half! The work you do is so very important. Thank you - infinite ...
The outcome from all of your tireless work got my case dismissed. You went above and beyond in providing me with countless documents, you kept me up to date with things that were happening in my case, and providing me numerous hours of behind the scenes work. If I can I will be recommending you and your firm to anyone and everyone that I can. Once again, thank you! If there is anything I can ever do please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you for getting my Gross Misdemeanor and Misdemeanor charges dismissed in court last month. With everything going on in my life right now, this was the last problem I wanted to deal with. My record now remains clean and my entire family thanks you.
Thank you for getting my DWI charges dismissed. Although I was way over the legal limit, you somehow kept those horrible charges off my record. The lawyer who recommended you was absolutely right - you are the best.
Thank you for your hard work in my jury trial. Without you, I would have been convicted like my 3 co-defendants. I owe you everything.
Thank you so much for the expert care that you did for my daughter’s case. You helped her with her 2nd DWI and you were with her every step of the way of the way on her 3rd DWI. You allowed her the year to recover and again words can’t tell you how grateful I am to all you have done for my daughter. You are remarkable.
Thank you for assisting (our son) with his Hennepin County appearance. We are all very appreciative for what you did. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!
With all the things we had to do following my court date, I feel like I never had the chance to properly thank you for all that you did to help me. So ... thank you! It was nice knowing you were really there to help ME and not just go through the process. I really appreciate that. I won’t be surprised to hear your name and see your face on TV in the future in some high profile case because I think you’re one of the best. But knowing the way you operate, you’d keep things quiet and battle in the courtroom. And don’t be surprised if one warm spring or summer day I give you a call and to have that beer with you. Thanks again, and all the best!
Thank you for getting my criminal charges dismissed. Throughout this entire court process, these criminal charges were hanging over my head and it was a constant worry for me. At court yesterday you got my drug charge dismissed and convinced the prosecutor to dismiss the other two charges in six months. Thanks for keeping my record clean making this painful experience bearable.
I cannot thank you enough for the hard work you did to prepare for my case. It was a pleasure meeting and working with you! You are an awesome attorney – I hope you are getting all of the recognition you deserve. You can count on my referral to everyone I know! I hope (friend) and I can take you out for a drink sometime – responsibly of course! Cheers.
Thank you for getting my DWI charges dismissed. Despite having a blood alcohol level of .14, you were able to keep a DWI conviction off my record. I am grateful.
I just wanted to thank you for fighting hard and getting my case dismissed today in court.
I want to thank you for all that you have done for [my daughter]. Even though I wanted a stiffer penalty for her – I’m really glad she didn’t go to jail. No parent wants their child to have to go thru that. She is my only child and I love her very much. I just hope that she has learned a lesson from all this and she won’t put herself in this position again. She knows that I am there to support her in whatever she does. You have done a really great job and now we just have to let her do the rest. Thanks again!
Thank you for working so hard for [Client], you really did a great job and everyone was really impressed.
Just wanted to say thank you for taking my case and all of the time and skill you put into helping me. Also Shelly. Anytime I called, she listened and never rushed my call. Take care and enjoy the Holidays with your families.
I can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done for my family and I recently. I am positive that I would not have had as favorable a result if you weren’t involved in the process. If there is anything I can ever do to help you with your business, please do not hesitate. You provide excellent representation for high profile and sensitive cases; protecting confidentiality so that clients can move forward to continue living their lives. Thank you.
Thank you for your very professional expertise in handling my son’s extremely serious case. We are so happy he will be allowed to go to Teen Challenge and pray he will totally turn his life around. Without your involvement we believe this would not have happened. We will keep you informed of his progress.
Thanks for your hard work in my case. Being able to maintain a clean record was important to me and you made that happen. I truly appreciate it.
You saved my life. I was charged with the most serious crime you can be charged with and you believed in my innocence. Thank you for getting everything dismissed.
Ryan, We would like to thank you for all the time and effort you put into defending [Client]. The actions that you have taken made all the difference. When the incident had first taken place, and even the few months after we were in a state of despair with what we viewed as a bleak situation. However, your eloquence and confidence in discussing with us the outlook of [Client]’s case breathed a new sense of hope for [Client] and our family. In those moments we knew beyond a doubt that here we had chosen the right person for the job. When the day in court finally arrived no one probably would’ve been able to predict the obstruction you faced to simply represent your client, and play by the rules of the criminal justice system. This case was a classic example of a David versus Goliath story. Through your argumentation and perseverance you were able to triumph. We recognize that this is no easy task for anyone to do, and many lawyers in your same position would not of been able to have achieved such an outcome. This demonstrates just how good you are at your job. Individuals like yourself make the criminal justice system work, and it takes good people doing good things to make it possible. Your work ethic, and natural charisma is a talent that you have utilized to do such good things. We appreciate what you have done, and hope you don’t stop defending people the way you have been. Your methods are honorable, and it was honestly shocking how well you had done in court. We knew you would be good, but we didn’t know you would be that good. And this is not just our opinion, but is echoed by those that were in the courtroom that day as well. If more than one person believes something is true it lends more credibility to the statement. You’ve made the difference in [Client]’s life, and that is something we will never forget. Thank you once again.
How Do You Choose Which MN Criminal Defense Lawyer To Hire?
The answer to that question should consider a number of factors, including the lawyer's reputation, experience, history of success, and ability to work hard and be prepared for your defense. Word of mouth is the best advertising. Most of Ryan Garry's cases are referred by former clients, other MN criminal and civil attorneys, and even prosecutors who they have battled against in trial. There is a reason their opponents refer their friends and family to Ryan Garry when they get in a jam ... because Ryan and his team are good at what they do and they know it. Besides being a Minnesota Criminal Law Specialist, Ryan has been named a Super Lawyer every year since 2009.
Attorney Elizabeth R. Duel is an integral part of the Team and its trial work. An expert in technology with the use of a sophisticated trial program called Trial Director (a program used by the United States Attorney’s Office and Federal Defender’s Office), she litigates nearly every jury trial with Ryan Garry, assisting in all aspects of the litigation. Prior to joining the firm, she externed for the then-chief judge of Hennepin County Criminal Court and interned with the United States Federal Defender’s Office. In addition, Elizabeth has been named a "Rising Star".
Both Ryan and Elizabeth are admitted to practice in the State of Minnesota, the federal District of Minnesota, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. They have had great success in a wide variety of cases including: Drug Crimes, Criminal Sexual Conduct, White Collar Crimes, DWI, Identity Theft, Media Crimes, Murder, Assault, Manslaughter, PPP Loan Fraud and many more types of cases.
