Ryan’s client was investigated by the United States Department of Justice and the DEA. After the U.S. Attorney’s Office rejected the prosecution, the case was charged by the Dakota County Attorney’s Office. The government claimed that Ryan’s client purchased drugs from a confidential informant (snitch); however, they failed to properly retain evidence and investigate their case. Ryan, with his private investigator, conducted forensic photograph comparisons between the real drug purchaser and Ryan’s client. After an intense investigation utilizing metadata from the DEA photographs, Ryan was able to convince the County Attorney’s Office to dismiss the case at the contested omnibus hearing on the eve of trial because his client had been wrongfully prosecuted and was an innocent man.
