Ryan’s client was prosecuted back in 2007 with a drug charge. Ryan negotiated a sentence that resolved in the case being dismissed. This dismissal, however, did not mean that the case would not be found by employers. Only an expungement would assure this conviction would not keep following our client through his life. Because Ryan had negotiated this rare sentence (a stay of imposition under 152.18), Ryan and Elizabeth petitioned for complete expungement of the client’s case. Even with two agencies objecting, the judge granted Ryan and Elizabeth’s request; this case is now expunged from the client’s record.
