Ryan’s client was charged a year ago with a Domestic Assault charge. Ryan filed motions to dismiss the charges for lack of probable cause and to suppress the client’s incriminating statements pursuant to a violation of Miranda v. Arizona. On the day of the contested hearing, immediately before Ryan was to call the police officers to the stand to testify, the State dismissed the charges and offered his client a non-criminal petty misdemeanor with a $200.00 fine.
