Given his criminal history, Ryan’s client was facing a long-executed prison sentence on 3 separate criminal files. The case was litigated for approximately two years, when the client decided to resolve the case. At sentencing, Ryan filed a motion for a downward dispositional departure with supporting letters and other documents. Despite the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission and probation officer recommending a long-executed prison sentence on the three separate files, Ryan convinced the Judge to stay the execution of the sentence and the client was placed on probation, and allowed to walk out of the courtroom to his wife and young son rather than in handcuffs to the jail. Client’s review (below) can be seen on AVVO and Google. The redacted motion and memorandum are below.
“I first contacted Ryan’s firm at a point in my life where all hope had been lost. I brought to him what seem to be an impossible task. I came from a small judge mental, bias community where I had been presumed guilty before I was even arraigned. I thought my fate had been set. Ryan and his team immediately jumped into action as if protecting me was their sole objective. They left no stone unturned or no avenue unchecked. I thought I was going to be separated from my family for at least five years, Ryan assured me that will not be the case. And he was right. In fact I won’t even be separated from my family for one day. If you’re looking for a miracle, look no further.”
